Introducing Inclusion and Integration

A micro-credential course consisting of 60 short learning activities (1 hour each) designed to embed integration and inclusion theory into practice among VET learners across Europe. The course aims to raise awareness and develop critical understanding of migration, diversity, equality, and social inclusion, while equipping learners with the skills and confidence to contribute to more inclusive educational environments.

Build the foundation for a truly inclusive classroom. This module introduces the core concepts of inclusion and integration within vocational education, exploring what these principles mean in practice and why they matter. Examine the systemic and social factors that shape the learner experience, and develop a clear framework for recognising and responding to diversity in your VET setting.

Go beyond the headlines and develop a deeper, more nuanced understanding of forced migration. This module explores the realities faced by refugees and displaced persons before, during, and after migration. By examining the human stories behind the statistics, you will build the empathy and contextual knowledge needed to support these learners effectively within vocational education environments.

Confront the barriers that prevent true inclusion — including the ones we carry ourselves. This module equips learners to identify, name, and challenge prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination in vocational training contexts. Through reflective exercises and practical scenarios, develop the critical awareness and interpersonal tools needed to foster a safe, respectful learning environment for every student.

Bridge language, culture, and difference through intentional communication. This module focuses on the practical skills needed to communicate clearly and inclusively across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Explore strategies for active listening, non-verbal communication, and adapting your language to ensure every learner — regardless of background — feels understood, respected, and engaged.

Support learners not just in the classroom, but in the workplace and beyond. This module examines the pathways to professional integration for migrants and refugees in European VET contexts. Learn how to help learners navigate workplace culture, build professional networks, and find their place within local communities — turning vocational training into a genuine gateway to belonging.

Give your learners the tools to claim the recognition they deserve. This final module empowers VET students to understand their rights, articulate their skills and experiences, and advocate for themselves in professional and civic contexts. Explore frameworks for validating non-formal and informal learning, and discover how educators can champion their learners’ voices both inside and outside the institution.
